If you’ve been using Adobe Premiere Rush as your go-to editing tool, there’s some big news you’ll want to know about. Adobe has announced that Premiere Rush will be discontinued, with key changes already starting from 30 September 2025. From that date, the app will no longer be available to download from Adobe.com or app stores, and subscriptions will stop renewing.

While existing users can keep the app running on devices where it’s already installed, reliability may dip as operating systems update. By 30 September 2026, technical support will officially end, and Rush could stop functioning altogether.

Here is a snapshot of the email we’ve received.

Another Adobe tool killed. We once were fans of Adobe Muse, which unfortunately got shut down too. The good thing about Rush was that it was so simple and easy to use. Premiere Pro has lots of bells & whistles, but in most cases, especially when you just need a quick edit, you are ok with a basic program like Adobe Rush.

Anyway, that’s why we’ve put this post together—to help you explore the best Adobe Premiere Rush alternatives before you find yourself stuck mid-project without a stable editor.

Here are solid Premiere Rush alternatives worth a look—grouped by what they’re best at:

Fast, social-first editors (mobile + desktop/web)

  • CapCut (free plan, Pro available) — Super quick for Shorts/Reels/TikTok with built-in AI tools like auto captions, auto reframe, background removal, and tons of templates. Works on iOS/Android, desktop, and in the browser. Probably our favourite especially for social posts, and you just do the whole edit on your phone.

  • VN Video Editor (free, no watermark) — Surprisingly capable multi-track editor that exports without a watermark; great when you want more control than a “template” app but still stay fast. iOS/Android, with desktop options.

Simple + collaborative in a browser

  • Microsoft Clipchamp — Timeline editor that’s easy to learn and now tightly integrated with Microsoft 365. Handy AI features (auto-captions, transcript-based editing) and unlimited exports make it a strong everyday pick—especially on Windows.

  • Canva Video — Template-driven, team-friendly, and runs anywhere. Its timeline view, stock media, and quick exports make branded social/video explainers fast to produce.

“Tablet studio” power

  • LumaFusion (one-time purchase) — Multitrack, pro-style editing built for touch. Now on iOS and Android/ChromeOS, so it’s fantastic if you want serious control on a tablet or Chromebook without a subscription.

  • DaVinci Resolve for iPad (free; Studio upgrade optional) — Brings Resolve’s Cut/Colour power to iPad with Blackmagic’s Neural Engine features on supported iPads. Great if you want pro colour tools and round-trip with desktop Resolve.

Free & flexible on desktop

  • Shotcut (free, open-source) — Cross-platform (Win/Mac/Linux) with 4K support and no watermarks. A good path if you want a traditional NLE without cost or vendor lock-in.

  • iMovie (free on Apple devices) — For quick cuts on iPhone/iPad/Mac with clean titles and 4K support—nice for simple projects or drafts you’ll later finish in a bigger NLE.
