We’re very proud to share that our work for UCNET has picked up a Web Excellence Award. The project won in the Website, Telecommunications category, with the award recognising the custom design direction, brand-led thinking, and polished digital experience behind the build.

A telco website that doesn’t look like every other telco website

We’ll be honest, designing something that just blends in with all others – not our favourite thing to do. A lot of telecommunications websites tend to follow the same formula. Corporate layouts, predictable messaging, and not much personality.

UCNET were open to doing something different! That put a smile on our designer’s face (it really did, right Eugene?).

From day one, the goal was to create a website that felt more modern, more engaging, and a lot less boxed in than what you usually see in the space. We wanted it to feel sharp and credible, but also give the brand some room to breathe and show a bit of character. That meant leaning into a more custom design direction, using movement, strong visuals, and a cleaner structure to help UCNET stand apart from the usual corporate crowd.

Built in Webflow, with plenty of personality

The site was built in Webflow, which gave us the flexibility to create a polished experience with smooth animation, interactive moments, and a few fun elements throughout the site.

Nothing too crazy. Just enough to make the experience feel more alive.

That balance was important because UCNET offers a broad range of services, from Business SIP and cloud telephony with AI through to contact centre solutions, business mobiles, and business internet. There is a lot there, so the site needed to make all of it feel simple, clear, and easy to move through.

Showing what makes UCNET different

One of the strongest parts of the project was helping bring UCNET’s real point of difference to the surface. They are not just another telco provider. They offer end to end communications solutions backed by local account management, onshore support, and offices in Melbourne and Sydney. They also partner with RingCentral and Vodafone Business, which gives them a pretty unique position in the market.

We also included team photography throughout the site, which helped give the brand a more genuine and approachable feel. In a space where a lot of businesses look and sound the same, that human side made a real difference. Team photography was a whole different challenge. But it turned out – so good!

A great result for a bold direction

This award is a great outcome for a project that set out to challenge the usual look and feel of telecom websites. UCNET trusted us (thanks guys!) to take the brand in a more open, energetic direction, and the final result feels like a proper reflection of who they are. Confident, capable, and not stuck doing what everyone else is doing.
